Ah Spring, allergy season! It’s a good thing we know how to make tissue paper, but we’ll cover that in the “from the cutting floor” section. We’re incredibly pleased at the reception of the Making Dragon video. We’ve been experimenting with bringing in another editor to lighten the load on Justin and we think this will allow us to get the content we have planned out the door. Admittedly, making a 45 minute exposé, researching genetic pathways and testing bombardier beetle butt sprays did take longer than anticipated. On the one hand, this is numerically less videos than we’de planned to make, but on the other it’s nearly twice the amount of content we used to put out in a month. And so a dilemma is presented to us, longer content or more content? “Both” is out of the question, and so we’ll have to solve this the only way we know how, by experimenting! Either way, you end up with more horrors within comprehension, it’s just a matter of what’s working for the current algorithm and what we can actually accomplish.
Speaking of experimentation, we’re also happy to see the responses to our commitment to not use gen-AI. The comments to the youtube post and in the latest video confirmed what we suspected all along, people want their entertainment and mad sciences to be genuine. To continue bringing you this, we need all the support we can get. It turns out that more than half of those who’ve joined are Patreon have done so at the free tier, which of course gets you signed up to this newsletter, but with only a 1$/month tier you can also join our discord channel where Justin and the team regularly answer question and the community’s pretty awesome overall. Our upcoming podcast™ will also premiere 2 weeks early for paying patrons. We’ll begin recording the first batch in late April early May at this rate.
